Wizlo, a US-based operating system for telehealth companies, has selected Gr4vy as its payment orchestration provider, replacing a model in which each new processor required a separate direct integration. The arrangement gives Wizlo access to multiple payment providers, including Stripe, Adyen, Authorize.Net and Google Pay, through a single connection point, alongside processor-independent tokenisation that keeps payment data under Wizlo’s own ownership rather than locked to individual processors or gateways.
The move is operationally motivated. Telehealth platforms running subscription-based care face an unusual payment risk profile: a failed recurring billing cycle does not just represent lost revenue, it can interrupt a patient’s access to prescriptions or ongoing treatment. Wizlo’s previous architecture, built on direct processor integrations, created a dependency that made switching or adding providers costly in engineering time and disruptive to billing continuity.
Why processor independence matters in regulated healthcare
The structural issue Wizlo has addressed is a familiar one for healthcare-adjacent fintech: processor lock-in arising from gateway-specific tokenisation. When payment tokens are issued by a processor rather than by a neutral orchestration layer, the merchant cannot migrate card credentials to a new provider without re-acquiring the customer’s payment details. In a subscription healthcare context, that friction is close to prohibitive. Gr4vy’s processor-independent token vault resolves this by holding tokens at the orchestration layer, allowing Wizlo to reroute transactions or onboard new processors without disrupting the patient billing relationship.
Kevin Singh, co-founder of Wizlo, said the platform operates in a space where policy changes from card networks, sponsor banks and regulators arrive with little warning, and that freedom from any single processor gives the company confidence it can respond without rebuilding its payments infrastructure. John Lunn, founder and chief executive of Gr4vy, framed the broader point: “Telehealth companies can’t afford to be limited by processor lock-in. Owning its payment data allows Wizlo to change processors, add new payment methods, and adapt as the market evolves without rebuilding its payments infrastructure.”
Wizlo’s platform covers patient intake, clinical care, prescription fulfilment, billing and subscription management, and is currently onboarding more than 15 enterprise clients, primarily in the longevity and weight loss sectors in the United States. The Gr4vy integration also supports Wizlo’s multi-tenant architecture, meaning each enterprise telehealth client can manage its own payment environment independently.
Market and regulatory context
Payment orchestration as a category has grown quickly as the complexity of enterprise payment stacks has increased. Several well-funded orchestration platforms now compete for the health and direct-to-consumer healthcare segment, a vertical that carries additional compliance weight because card network rules for health-related merchants and sponsor bank appetite for telehealth clients have both tightened since 2023. The US telehealth market’s rapid post-pandemic expansion, followed by tighter Drug Enforcement Administration rules on remote prescribing, has made billing continuity a board-level concern for platforms in the longevity and weight loss verticals.
For Gr4vy, the Wizlo partnership illustrates a positioning strategy that emphasises regulated verticals where the cost of payment disruption is high enough to justify a dedicated orchestration layer rather than a bundled gateway. That framing differentiates the product from the processor-supplied routing tools offered by Stripe and Adyen natively, though the practical separation narrows as those processors expand their own multi-provider routing capabilities. The durability of the advantage will depend on whether Gr4vy’s processor-neutral token vault and multi-tenant architecture retain their differentiation as the major processors extend their own orchestration features.
