Revolut has signed a partnership with OpenAI to include ChatGPT Go within its tiered subscription plans, offering retail customers between three and 12 months of the product at no additional charge. The announcement, made on 30 July 2026, positions the benefit as part of a broader strategy to justify the price of paid plans by bundling non-financial services alongside travel, health and entertainment perks.
The access periods vary by plan: Ultra subscribers receive 12 months plus a 12-month buddy pass; Metal subscribers receive 12 months; Premium, Revolut Pro and Revolut Mobile customers get six months; and Plus and Standard plan holders receive a three-month promotional offer. ChatGPT Go provides higher usage limits, expanded image generation, additional file uploads, document analysis and persistent memory, features that sit above OpenAI’s free tier.
Tara Massoudi, partner and general manager for premium products at Revolut, said: “We want to empower our customers with tools that gare part of their entire day, beyond finance. Today, AI is not a nice to have, it’s an essential for everyday life.”
Revolut also cited a combined value of £4,000 per year across all services included in its Ultra plan, a figure it attributes to the retail price of bundled subscriptions taken individually.
The bundle strategy
The partnership reflects a model Revolut has been building for several years: using the financial account as an aggregation point for lifestyle and productivity services, with the aim of reducing customer churn and increasing average revenue per user across the plan tiers. Adding a widely used AI productivity tool is a logical extension of that playbook, particularly as competition for paid current-account customers in the UK and Europe intensifies among neobanks and incumbent retail banks alike.
The commercial terms of the OpenAI arrangement were not disclosed. It is not clear whether Revolut is subsidising the ChatGPT Go licences directly, whether the arrangement is a revenue-share, or whether OpenAI is partly funding the integration as a distribution play. That detail matters for reading the unit economics: subsidised third-party benefits can erode margin at scale if conversion to paid tiers does not follow.
Market context
The wider context is that super-app positioning among neobanks is becoming a competitive battleground. Several European challengers and some incumbent digital banks have assembled similar bundles covering travel insurance, streaming access and wellness. The question is whether AI productivity tooling proves more retentive than media or travel perks, which have historically shown weaker stickiness once promotional periods expire.
For OpenAI, the deal provides meaningful distribution: Revolut reports more than 75 million retail customers globally. The arrangement comes shortly after OpenAI’s release of the GPT-5.6 model family, and sits alongside other reported consumer distribution partnerships the company has been pursuing as it scales its subscription business. From a regulatory standpoint, the integration raises no immediate concerns in the UK or EU, but data-sharing arrangements between a regulated payment institution and an AI provider will attract attention from the FCA and potentially the ICO as AI-in-banking guidance continues to develop.
