The digitization of European corporate treasury operations has hit a major inflection point as mobile applications evolve from secondary balance-checking tools into primary, high-value transaction execution engines. Demonstrating this structural shift, Bank of America has revealed that European corporate clients processed and approved more than €100 billion in payment value through its flagship CashPro App during the first seven months of 2026.
The performance reflects accelerating momentum across the region, with payment transaction volumes rising 25 per cent and total approved payment value climbing 21 per cent compared to the same period in 2025. As corporate treasurers demand seamless, round-the-clock mobility to manage time-sensitive cash positions, mobile authentication and authorization workflows are rapidly replacing traditional desktop-bound hardware solutions.
Accelerating Mobile Token Adoption in Corporate Treasury
Central to this operational migration is the elimination of physical security hardware. Bank of America’s CashPro mobile token solution—which integrates biometrics, QR Sign-In, and push authentication directly into mobile devices—has effectively replaced legacy physical dongles.
Across European corporate entities, 74 per cent of CashPro users now choose the mobile token as their preferred method to authenticate and access the platform, underscoring how deeply embedded smartphone infrastructure has become within daily cash management workflows.
“Mobile is an integral part of the daily treasury workflow, giving clients the flexibility to manage critical tasks securely wherever they are,” stated Matthew Davies, head of global payments solutions EMEA at Bank of America. “The fact that 74% of CashPro users in Europe now choose the app as their preferred security token demonstrates how firmly mobile has become embedded in day-to-day treasury and cash management.”
Client-Led UX Enhancements and Real-World Impact
To support the growing volume of complex transactions routed through mobile devices, Bank of America recently overhauled the app’s payment approval interface. Designed to increase granular visibility into individual payment line items, the updates allow financial controllers and treasurers to inspect transaction details before granting final sign-off.
Crucially, these platform refinements were developed through direct feedback gathered from the bank’s CashPro Boards—client advisory groups composed of corporate treasurers across key geographical markets and industry segments.
“Moving from a physical token to the CashPro App was a natural step for us,” noted Kunwarjit Singh Suri, EMEA controller at F5 Limited and a member of the bank’s UK CashPro Board. “It gives us the security we need while making it easier to review and approve transactions wherever we are. The new payment approval process is another nice touch making it easier for us to review and approve payments.”
Embedded AI Capabilities and the Identity Frontier
The CashPro platform currently connects more than 35,000 corporate clients globally to international banking networks. Recognized by Coalition Greenwich as the top-ranked corporate mobile application for four consecutive years, the platform embeds sophisticated artificial intelligence to automate complex treasury functions:
-
CashPro Chat: A virtual assistant powered by Bank of America’s AI-driven Erica technology to handle transaction tracking, account queries, and immediate service resolution.
-
CashPro Capital Markets Insights: An AI algorithm leveraging real-time market variables to generate a “TED score”—quantifying the macroeconomic environment before debt issuers execute investment-grade issuances.
-
CashPro Forecasting: A machine-learning data intelligence engine that automatically ingests account data to analyze global cash positions and deliver accurate liquidity forecasts within minutes.
Looking ahead, Bank of America is expanding the app’s cybersecurity perimeter by developing next-generation digital identity verification capabilities tailored specifically for corporate administrators. As Heath Bergman, CashPro App Product executive at Bank of America, highlighted, ongoing client feedback continues to shape the bank’s technology roadmap as enterprise treasurers demand broader mobile capabilities across every layer of corporate finance.
