Enso Brings xStocks Tokenized Equities to Arbitrum via Single API

Enso, the Zurich-based execution infrastructure platform for onchain finance, has made xStocks available on Arbitrum through its API and RWA App. The integration means wallets, fintechs and trading platforms already connected to the Enso API can extend tokenized US equity access to Arbitrum without constructing new routing or aggregation infrastructure.

xStocks are tokenized representations of US-listed equities. By routing them through Enso’s existing execution layer, applications gain access alongside the same infrastructure already used for swaps, cross-chain routing and other DeFi actions across the networks Enso supports. Eligible users can also trade xStocks directly through the Enso RWA App within Arbitrum’s onchain ecosystem.

The distribution problem in tokenized assets

Connor Howe, co-founder and chief executive of Enso, identified what he sees as the core structural gap in real-world asset (RWA) markets. “Tokenization solved the supply side of real-world assets but what’s been missing is distribution, the liquidity, routing and execution to get those assets into the wallets and apps where people actually transact,” he said. “Bringing that to Arbitrum means any wallet, fintech or trading platform already built on Enso can offer tokenized equity access to one of Ethereum’s largest ecosystems without building anything new.”

The point is well-grounded in the current state of the market. Tokenized equity issuance has expanded materially over the past two years, but access has remained fragmented. Each new chain or venue has typically required application developers to build bespoke integrations, raising the cost and slowing adoption. Enso’s pitch is a single API that absorbs that complexity, a model it says is already powering ether.fi Cash’s tokenized stock and metals execution, an approved minting role for Ondo Finance, and the infrastructure behind Anchorage Digital’s Porto institutional terminal.

Peter Haymond, head of DeFi partnerships at Arbitrum, said real-world assets are one of the fastest-growing categories on the network and that execution infrastructure is what converts that growth into something developers can ship. The xStocks integration, he argued, is the kind of composability that compounds as more real-world assets move onchain.

Regulatory backdrop and market momentum

The timing sits against a broader wave of institutional interest in tokenized equities. The announcement noted that NYSE parent ICE and crypto exchange OKX filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission this week for a 24/7 venue that would trade more than 60 tokenized US stocks. If approved, that would mark a significant step in legitimising tokenized equity infrastructure as a regulated asset class rather than a DeFi experiment.

In the EU, MiCA provides a framework for certain crypto-asset types, but tokenized securities remain subject to existing securities law, meaning any platform offering them to European users must navigate MiFID II compliance. In the UK, the Financial Conduct Authority‘s sandbox for digital securities is still developing clear rules. The regulatory path for tokenized equities therefore varies by jurisdiction, and Enso’s release does not specify which users are eligible to trade through the RWA App or which regulatory frameworks govern its institutional clients.

Enso says it has settled more than $22 billion onchain for more than 350 enterprise clients. The company is backed by Polychain Capital, Multicoin Capital, Spartan Group and Hypersphere, though no new funding was announced alongside this integration.
