TransferGo and UNITED24 Launch Ukraine Student Charity Transfer Campaign

TransferGo has launched a time-limited charitable campaign with UNITED24, the Ukrainian government’s official fundraising platform, under the banner “Transfers That Unite”. Until 29 October 2026, the remittance company will contribute an additional 0.2% of every transfer sent to a Ukrainian IBAN to UNITED24’s Education and Science programme, at no extra cost to the sender.

The campaign is framed around supporting Ukrainian students enrolled at domestic colleges, a population that has faced sustained disruption since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The BigThings 2.0 event

To mark the initiative, TransferGo held its BigThings 2.0 event in Warsaw on 10 October, drawing nearly 150 attendees, including more than 100 Ukrainian content creators based across Poland. Influencers travelled from Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Lublin and Szczecin for an event the company described as combining community networking with practical guidance on growing digital audiences.

The guest of honour was Ukrainian singer Kateryna Pavlenko, known professionally as MONOKATE, who spoke about the cultural value of Ukrainian-language content and performed a short acoustic set. Valentyna Kuzmin, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow, also attended. The format echoed TransferGo’s previous community events: a first BigThings gathering in Warsaw in 2025 and a TRUE INFLUENCE event for Ukrainian creators held in Prague this spring.

Krzysztof Szatecki, Brand and Demand Director at TransferGo, said: “Ukrainian creators abroad have become some of the strongest voices keeping Ukraine’s story alive, and BigThings 2.0 was our way of bringing those voices into one room. Every transfer home is already an act of care for family, and with Transfers That Unite, we’re making sure that it also helps the next generation of Ukrainian professionals finish their studies.”

Market and regulatory context

Remittance corridors to Ukraine have been a significant commercial focus for cross-border payment providers since 2022. Ukraine became one of the world’s largest remittance-receiving economies as its diaspora expanded, and several fintech firms have competed for a share of the Polish-to-Ukraine corridor in particular. TransferGo, which says it serves more than nine million customers across 160 countries and has operated for 14 years, counts the Ukrainian diaspora as a core demographic.

The “Transfers That Unite” mechanism, in which a fraction of a commercial transaction fee is redirected to a charitable fund, is an established model in the remittance sector. It sidesteps the friction of asking senders to make a separate donation while generating measurable social impact data that can be used in brand positioning. The 0.2% contribution rate is modest on individual transactions but can aggregate meaningfully across a high-volume corridor.

UNITED24, launched by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in May 2022, reported cumulative fundraising of more than $3.9 billion from donors in over 145 countries as of the date of the release. The platform operates across several programme areas; the Education and Science strand is the recipient of this campaign’s proceeds.

For TransferGo, the initiative also serves as a community-building exercise among diaspora influencers, a distribution channel for brand awareness in a segment where trust and peer recommendation matter more than traditional advertising. The effectiveness of that channel will depend on how actively the creator network promotes the campaign before the 29 October close date.
