Allianz partners with Air Doctor to expand travel healthcare

Allianz Global Assistance Canada has partnered with Air Doctor, a telemedicine platform offering virtual and in-person medical services worldwide, to enhance healthcare access for travellers.

The partnership aims to provide insured travellers with a fast and convenient way to schedule medical appointments during international trips, according to OpenJaw.

By integrating Air Doctor’s digital booking system, Allianz can offer customers access to virtual and in-person consultations in over 80 countries, helping to manage common illnesses and injuries while abroad.

Allianz has introduced this new service as part of its commitment to innovative travel solutions that meet modern traveller needs.

Customers with medical travel insurance benefits receive an email before their trip with information on booking appointments through the co-branded Allianz Global Assistance-Air Doctor website or app.

The service ensures insured travellers can seek care without worrying about upfront costs or paperwork.

Air Doctor provides a cashless, claimless experience with virtual and in-person doctor visits, including multilingual options.

The platform also arranges local prescriptions where available and offers up to two doctor visits per person per trip without upfront payments or approvals. Allianz’s in-house medical team supports the process by advising and assisting travellers to ensure appropriate care is scheduled.

The partnership strengthens Allianz’s existing virtual care network and guided care capabilities, providing customers with greater reassurance when travelling internationally.

This initiative also highlights Air Doctor’s growing role in simplifying global healthcare access for insured travellers.

“We are excited to introduce this significant enhancement to our assistance services, designed to make travel more seamless and enjoyable for our valued customers,” said Riccardo Iacovino, vice president, medical operations & provider management at Allianz. “By integrating our team of in-house medical experts with the Air Doctor visit scheduling tool, we offer travellers the reassurance and support they need to confidently explore the world, knowing that quality medical care is readily accessible.”

“We are pleased to offer Allianz Global Assistance customers quick and efficient access to medical care while travelling,” said Jenny Cohen Derfler, CEO and co-founder of Air Doctor. “Our app delivers a cashless, claimless experience – no paperwork, no out-of-pocket expenses – so the entire insurance process is handled seamlessly in-app. Travellers can focus on their trip, knowing their healthcare needs are taken care of.”
