Ant Group’s Multimodal AI Assistant ‘LingGuang’ Surpasses 1 million Downloads in Four Days

Ant Group’s new multimodal AI assistant, LingGuang, amassed over one million downloads in just four days following its launch on 18 November. The rapid uptake signals LingGuang as a significant new entrant in the global AI race, with an adoption rate comparable to other major players like Sora and DeepSeek.

LingGuang is described as a next-generation multimodal AI assistant and is the first of its kind in China to interact with users through code-driven outputs.

Code-driven interactions and multimodal capabilities

Unlike traditional text-based chatbots, LingGuang is equipped with the capability to understand and produce language, images, voice, and data. It delivers precise, structured responses to complex queries through a variety of formats, including 3D models, audio clips, charts, animations, and interactive maps.

Crucially, the assistant can also immediately generate functional mini-programs, such as food calorie calculators, directly within the conversation.

The assistant is built around three core features designed to make complex knowledge simpler and more intuitive:

  • Fast Research: LingGuang responds to user questions with dynamic, multimodal content. Its 3D digital modeling capability allows users to explore and interact with subjects ranging from historical landmarks to dinosaurs, transcending traditional 2D limitations. It can also turn abstract concepts, such as quantum entanglement, into intuitive generative illustrations and animations.
  • Flash Programs: Leveraging its native AI coding capability, LingGuang allows users to create personalized, interactive “flash programs” using simple natural language prompts. Whether for fitness tracking, trip planning, or personal financial management, the assistant can build and run these custom tools directly within the conversation in as little as 30 seconds. Ant Group states this feature empowers non-technical users to develop functional programs effortlessly.
  • AGI Camera: This feature provides real-time understanding of complex scenes and dynamic footage captured by users. It delivers contextual insights and enables on-the-fly editing or generation of images and videos through simple commands.
Under the hood

At its core, LingGuang automatically decomposes user queries into task frameworks and processes them across different knowledge domains and modalities in parallel. Combined with its native AI coding capability, this modular approach is designed to ensure logical rigor while enabling diverse outputs, all delivered in a clean, minimalist style.

LingGuang is now available for download on the Apple App Store and major Android app stores.
