Ecommpay, a global payments platform, has launched a new brand identity and inclusivity programme, focusing on accessibility, sustainability and promoting financial inclusion.
As part of its mission to drive financial inclusivity, the programme provides critical support to merchants, helping them improve the accessibility of their digital presence. Research shows that enhancing website accessibility can boost traffic by 23 to 24 per cent.
Ecommpay has also taken significant steps to ensure the accessibility of its own website and payments platform by adhering to the WCAG 2.2 AA standards, making it more accessible for individuals with visual, hearing, cognitive and physical disabilities. The company is working with the Digital Accessibility Centre to test its website, mobile SDK, and hosted payment page, aiming to achieve certification by the end of September 2024.
To further empower merchants, Ecommpay is offering free access to a comprehensive Guide to Digital Accessibility, which outlines the necessary steps to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. The guide helps businesses improve their digital presence and ensures their online platforms are accessible to all users.
Project Nemo
In addition to these efforts, Ecommpay recently partnered with Project Nemo, a grassroots initiative focused on improving inclusivity in the fintech and payments industries, and the European Women in Payments Network (EWPN), which supports diversity and inclusion within the sector.
Miranda McLean, chief marketing officer at Ecommpay, says the Ecommpay for Good programme empowers merchants to create the most inclusive e-commerce presence while ensuring their customers have an accessible and inclusive payment experience.
“The latest Payments Association data suggests that just five per cent of payments businesses see ESG as a priority in the next 12 months,” she says. “We think this is a huge missed opportunity because there is plenty of evidence to prove that inclusivity and accessibility actually drive revenue.
“We are, therefore, empowering our merchant clients to ensure all aspects of their digital presence are accessible, with our Guide to Digital Accessibility.”
Ecommpay has worked with the Digital Accessibility Centre to create a Guide to Digital Accessibility that covers every aspect of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines with a checklist for developers to reference as they build and maintain their websites.
