Payment flexibility is something paytechs must strive to achieve as consumers’ demands are constantly evolving. While some users are keen on digital payments, others want to continue using a card. To make a variety of payment options more accessible to the latter, Enfuce, the payment processor, has expanded its E2 card to the UK and Europe following a partnership with payments giant, Mastercard.
The Enfuce E2 card offers both credit and debit primary account numbers (PANs) in one card. It offers greater flexibility for cardholders while ensuring they only need to remember one PIN. While the concept of a ‘combination card’ is commonplace in the Nordics, throughout the rest of Europe it is yet to be adopted.

Monika Liikamaa, co-founder and co-CEO of Enfuce says: “With double the powers of a traditional card, the E2 card is Enfuce’s trusted card programme expertise squared. This launch is another step in our journey to deliver our commitment to bring Nordic innovation to the rest of the world.”
UK and European cardholders will now have this option. They can set their default payment preference then easily switch to a different one at the point of sale if they wish. This gives users more control over their spending, and in turn, can help them avoid overdraft fees. It also helps with money management as it means moving money between accounts is no longer needed. Each application is linked to its own account, so funds will always be taken from the correct one.
Denise Johansson, co-founder and co-CEO of Enfuce
Denise Johansson, co-founder and co-CEO of Enfuce says: “We believe that our 2-in-1 card could soon become an industry norm, as it has done in the Nordics. We’re proud to be able to answer a clear gap in the market for both banks and consumers. We’re giving an added boost to the rich fintech ecosystem in the UK, France and Germany.”
Differentiating from the rest
When it comes to digital wallets, cardholders also receive a frictionless experience with custom designs available for each card to avoid confusion.
The E2 card gives Enfuce customers’ an edge, with the dual-PAN removing the need to provide two cards. Furthermore, banks and innovators can cut their plastic consumption by reducing the number of cards they manufacture. This benefits both users and the planet. The dual-PAN card also offers improved security to cardholders by letting them switch to credit payments when making a high-value purchase.
Enfuce customers’ will also be able to design custom card products depending on cardholder needs. For example, custom limits and controls made in real-time. This will help Enfuce increase cardholder loyalty by increasing flexibility and keeping up with changing consumer spending preferences in the credit and debit market.
Andreas Spengel, senior vice president market development, Mastercard says: “Partnership is part of our DNA, and we are dedicated to collaborating with partners who share our vision of offering innovative payment solutions.”
