Ripple, the provider of enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions, has received full approval for its Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).
The milestone marks a significant step in the company’s regulatory roadmap, allowing it to accelerate the expansion of Ripple Payments across the European Union.
A regulatory streak
The full grant follows a preliminary approval received last month, during which time Ripple fulfilled all outstanding conditions required by the Luxembourg regulator.
This latest approval comes amidst a flurry of regulatory wins for the blockchain giant. Just last month, Ripple secured both an EMI licence and a Cryptoasset Registration from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
With the addition of the Luxembourg licence, Ripple now holds more than 75 regulatory licences worldwide. The company claims this portfolio makes it one of the most regulated crypto companies globally, a status it is leveraging to attract institutions looking to migrate from legacy technology to modern digital asset infrastructure.

The licence allows Ripple to offer a broader range of payment services within the EU, facilitating seamless cross-border payments using digital assets for institutional clients.
By securing full authorisation in a Tier-1 jurisdiction like Luxembourg, alongside its recent UK success, Ripple is aggressively positioning itself as the bridge between traditional finance and the digital asset economy in Europe.
The company continues to expand its suite of services, which includes global payments, custody, and treasury management, underpinned by its stablecoin, RLUSD, and the cryptocurrency XRP.
