The United Arab Emirates has established itself as a premier global wealth management hub, claiming the third spot overall in the inaugural Avaloq Wealth Management Index while securing the top position globally for technology and digital adoption.
The index, published by wealthtech leader Avaloq, evaluates the underlying structural conditions shaping private wealth across 15 major global markets. Based on data evaluating more than 60 indicators, the study assesses jurisdictions across five core pillars: macroeconomic conditions, financial market maturity, demographics, regulatory environment, and technology and digital adoption.
Rather than ranking jurisdictions purely by total assets under management (AUM) or historical volume, Avaloq’s benchmark focuses on the long-term foundations that drive wealth preservation and creation. The findings demonstrate how challenger wealth hubs in the Middle East are competing with traditional juggernauts like Switzerland, London, and Hong Kong.
Dominating Digital and Demographic Benchmarks
The standout finding of the index is the UAE’s perfect score of 100 in the Technology and Digital Adoption pillar. This places the country ahead of major established financial jurisdictions, including the United States (89), Singapore (84), the United Kingdom (79), and Switzerland (43).
This maximum score reflects a combination of advanced digital infrastructure, high consumer readiness for tech-enabled financial solutions, and rapid integration of modern wealthtech platforms among private banks and family offices.
The UAE also recorded top-tier scores in the Demographics pillar, driven by an influx of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), young entrepreneurs, and tech-savvy investors. Combined with solid macroeconomic performance, these structural advantages position the country to capture a growing share of global private wealth migration.
Overall, the UAE scored 72 out of 100 in the index, trailing only global leader Singapore (86) and the United States (83), while outperforming established wealth centres such as Hong Kong (67), Switzerland (66), and the UK (58).
Maturing Capital Markets and Free Zone Ecosystems

The report notes a clear divergence between financial market maturity and digital agility across different regions. While traditional centers like Zurich and London rely on centuries of capital market depth, newer hubs are capitalizing on agility and digital-first delivery.
The UAE’s financial market maturity profile remains in a developmental phase compared to mature Western markets. However, sustained institutional investment into international financial free zones—notably the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM)—is rapidly closing the gap. These ecosystems provide progressive regulatory frameworks, specialized courts, and sandbox environments that foster wealthtech innovation alongside operational stability.
Akash Anand, managing director of Middle East, Africa and India at Avaloq, highlighted the dynamic driving this transformation:
“The UAE’s performance reflects its ability to combine long-term economic ambition with rapid digital adoption and a young, internationally connected population. For wealth managers, this creates an environment where innovation and client expectations are moving quickly.”
The Road Ahead for Wealthtech
Avaloq’s findings underscore a fundamental shift in how wealth management operations are evaluated. As generational wealth transfer accelerates and investor demographics lean heavily toward digital interaction, structural factors like digital infrastructure and demographic momentum are becoming as critical as legacy reputation.
For private banks, wealth managers, and fintech providers operating in the Middle East, the index serves as validation of the region’s digital-first playbook. With high digital adoption already secured, the focus for the UAE will center on deepening its capital market liquidity and continuing to attract global institutional capital to complement its technological edge.
