Project Nemo, a newly announced initiative which works with disability champions and service providers to educate the world on how the financial industry can be more inclusive is being supported by Ecommpay, the payments solutions provider.
Project Nemo will receive this support throughout its 12-month campaign as the initiative led by Joanne Dewar, industry champion and former fintech CEO, looks to connect disability inclusion experts with fintech decision-makers. The partnership will see Ecommpay help Project Nemo work towards solving accessibility in fintech and payments. Additionally, it will raise awareness through joint marketing initiatives and support Project Nemo’s marketing and events.
Most recently, Ecommpay provided sponsorship for an exhibition stand at Money20/20 Europe. This will continue over the next 12 months in addition to content writing and designing too.
Joanne Dewar, project lead, Project Nemo said: “Fintech has made great strides in broadening reach, lowering costs and delivering innovative products and services. However, there remains work to do to ensure that our workplaces and products and services are fully accessible, starting with raising awareness.
“The support we have received from Ecommpay enables our message to be heard across the industry, and I’m incredibly grateful to the whole team for their unequivocal support. The business’s sponsorship and hands-on support will help Project Nemo drive meaningful change and make the UK fintech industry more inclusive of the disability community.”
Ecommpay’s inclusion support
Alongside Project Nemo, Ecommpay is also working on a number of other collaborative projects with organisations and charities including the RNIB, and European Women Payments Networks (EWPN) to improve inclusion within the industry.
Discussing the partnership, Miranda McLean, chief marketing officer, Ecommpay said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Project Nemo. Increasing inclusion and accessibility across fintech is crucial – our industry has an opportunity to lead the way, and we want to be a driving force for that change, improving the reputation of the sector and encouraging future generations to see this as an attractive career path. The fintech space is for everyone, but there’s work needed to make the industry accessible for all.”
Passionate about championing the skills and expertise of diverse and underrepresented groups, Ecommpay’s McLean sits on the executive board of the not-for-profit, EWPN, of which Project Nemo’s founder, Joanne Dewar is also a member, sparking conversation on how Ecommpay could support the new venture.
