Lenovo Implements Klarna at Checkout for European Customers

Klarna, the AI-powered global payments network and shopping assistant, has secured a major global agreement enabling customers of Lenovo, the global technology giant in 15 European countries, to pay for their tech purchases at Lenovo.com using Klarna’s flexible payment methods, including its popular interest-free buy now, pay later (BNPL) options.

By offering an alternative to credit cards in a move to enable responsible spending, Klarna is now available as a payment option via the Lenovo website.

Klarna checks a consumer’s eligibility before approving each purchase and provides a clear instalment plan with friendly reminders to help shoppers keep on top of their payments. These guardrails boast positive stats, as 99 per cent of lending is repaid and 40 per cent of orders are repaid early.

Lenovo has launched Klarna’s full range of payment products in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Angus Cormie, director and GM, EMEA e-commerce for Lenovo says: “This partnership means that our customers can spread the cost of Lenovo’s AI-enable and optimised devices, from powerful workstations to portable laptops, in easy-to-manage, interest-free instalments.”

By offering interest-free BNPL, Lenovo is offering is beginning to offer its customers one of the fastest-growing payment methods today. In fact, worldwide BNPL spending grew by 18 per cent in 2023, according to a Worldpay report.

Raji Behal, head of Western and Southern Europe, UK and Ireland at Klarna, says: “This is massive news for lovers of high tech and haters of hidden fees and high interest. Now consumers can spread the cost of their tech essentials without paying record high interest to the big banks.”

The news comes shortly after Klarna revealed that, starting next year, its interest-free payment options will be available to Google Pay users in the US at checkout.
